The National Nursing Home Quality Improvement Campaign supports stakeholder groups in each of the 53 states, territories, and District of Columbia. We refer to the stakeholder groups as LANEs (Local Area Networks for Excellence). LANE is the original term used for these groups, many of which were first formed to support the Campaign. Over time, each stakeholder group has evolved, often taking a unique name and identity.


The LANE includes a broad spectrum of long term care stakeholders, some of whom are listed below. Please contact a LANE representative if you are interested in becoming involved.

LANEs bring together stakeholders within the state on a regular basis to:

  • Share their activities and ideas;
  • Identify long term care quality improvement priorities for the state;
  • Coordinate activities and partner to advance improvement;
  • Promote standard quality improvement methods, evidence-based practices, and the QAPI framework.

About Your LANE

LANE membership is voluntary. Members attend scheduled meetings, as regular involvement supports success. Meetings include a reviewing statewide data to identify priorities and monitor progress; planning educational programs; developing action plans; and sharing best practices, challenges, solutions, and lessons learned.

Data Share Accounts

The Campaign can establish a Data Share Partner Account for individual organizations, including QIN-QIOs that allow them to directly view data submitted by a group of homes' with whom they are working.
